US-based storage and data management firm NetApp India on Monday announced it has elevated Vasanthi Ramesh as Managing Director of NetApp India.
In her new role in addition to her existing role as VP, of Engineering, Unified Manageability Framework, she will oversee NetApp’s strategic initiatives in the region and drive continued innovation and growth for the company.
With nearly 30 years of experience in enterprise software and consumer technology, Ramesh has been instrumental in shaping NetApp’s manageability and data protection portfolio, focusing on solutions that serve customers across both traditional data centres and public clouds.
Ramesh will now lead NetApp India’s site operations with a sharp-focus approach to various initiatives at the organisational level – including NetApp Excellerator and Academia Connect. Additionally, she will also focus on enhancing NetApp’s engagement with GCC platforms and industry bodies such as NASSCOM to further bolster the company’s leadership and reputation in India, the company said in a statement.
The statement added that “under her leadership, NetApp India will continue to accelerate innovation, expand its local footprint, and offer cutting-edge cloud and data services to customers across the region.”
Ramesh holds dual master’s degrees from universities in India and the U.S. She is an alumnus of the University of Hyderabad, where she graduated with a degree in Statistics. Additionally, she earned a master’s in computer science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
The company said that over a quarter of its global employees are based in India where it is seeing robust growth and it remains optimistic about the market, buoyed by the hybrid-multicloud, artificial intelligence (AI) and enhanced cybersecurity trends.
In an interview with TechCircle in September, Chief Executive George Kurian highlighted India’s role as a key engineering centre and market for expansion. He stated that India is one of NetApp’s top three markets in Asia and the next five years, it will be the number one contributor in the continent.
NetApp’s global engineering teams are based in the U.S., Israel, and India, each focusing on specific product lines. The Bangalore development centre develops the Google-first-party cloud storage service, while the teams in Israel and the U.S. focus on Amazon and Microsoft services, respectively.
In October, NetApp promoted Ganesan Arumugam to Senior Director of APAC Channel Sales & Alliances, where he will lead the channel strategy in the Asia Pacific region and collaborate with global and regional leaders to strengthen the partner ecosystem. Previously, he was the head of APJ Channel & Alliance.
